OVERVIEW OF POSITION

The Director of Global Beverage Strategy is responsible for positioning, developing and executing the Krispy Kreme beverage strategy, providing enthusiastic company-wide and cross-functional leadership to marketing, training, operations, supply chain, licensing, finance, R&D and design and construction relating to Krispy Kreme’s Beverage Experience and expanding how the brand leverages the beverage category.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the planning, development and implementation of global beverage strategy and programs across retail, wholesale and beverage input to licensing platforms
  • Leads a cross functional beverage team including marketing, operations, procurement, R&D, training, equipment and finance on the beverage product development process
  • Sets beverage strategy with a robust understanding of consumer desires and operational parameters
  • Works  with menu strategy team, marketing, and R&D teams to lead concepting, commercialization and implementation of overall global beverage direction, initiatives, strategies, products, and objectives, moving multiple projects forward simultaneously with responsibility for:
    • New beverage product/platform development and innovation
    • Promotional calendar for limited time beverage offerings; integrating beverage category into national marketing calendars, external communications and in-store point of sale
    • Promotional and everyday pricing
    • Actively participating on the R&D team and the menu strategy team
    • Ensuring beverage offerings balance variety and breadth of appeal
    • Developing and managing  detailed and comprehensive project plans for all brand development beverage projects
  • Develops creative strategy briefs and collaborates with brand development team to execute supporting creative materials for beverage programs
  • Oversees ongoing monitoring, tracking, evaluation, and development of plans to improve beverage sales performance
  • Leads post-promotional reviews of all major brand beverage development projects with key stakeholders to identify successes and opportunities and then effectively apply learning to future programs
  • Regularly evaluates competitive offerings, pricing and trends in the beverage category and identify areas for opportunity and innovation within Krispy Kreme’s beverage offerings
  • Explores and directs opportunities to improve and sustain beverage presence in the wholesale channel working with the product licensing team (packaged coffee, iced coffee, K-cups, among others); work closely with licensing partner
  • Participates in industry trade forums like the “Specialty Coffee Association”
  • Leverages beverage platforms to meet company financial goals

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-10 years’ experience in the beverage industry with emphasis in coffee category preferred; broad beverage experience desirable,  with solid background with in the marketing area
  • 5-7 years’ marketing experience preferred in the coffee, bakery, or quick services sectors including experience in product development
  • In depth knowledge of beverage operations and processing including coffee sourcing, blends, and roasts
  • CPG (consumer packaged goods), licensing, or experience working in the wholesale channel desirable
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to move major projects forward through cross functional teams in a constructive and timely manner across multiple departments and organizations
  • Experienced in concepting and developing new beverage products
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing promotional, product and/or brand initiatives
  • Exceptional project management and organizational
  • Self-motivated with an innovative, can-do spirit; always ready to lead and to learn
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with marketing team, other internal departments and outside agency(s)
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, managing numerous projects and adapting to shifting priorities
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and in a high-pressure environment
  • Comfortable working independently and making decisions using sound judgment and discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Proactive, results oriented
  • Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong business and analytic acumen
  • Experience working within a franchise organization a plus
  • Undergraduate degree (marketing, business, culinary or related field preferred); Master’s degree preferred
