My hometown original

I'm originally from Winston-Salem and as a kid my parents work took us to different states. Then my military service took me even farther. I always looked forward to coming back to see family because it meant going to Stratford Rd. and getting something sweet. I usually decided what I wanted while in line. I clearly recall the dining area in the 1970s when I was a kid - airy and open, clean and well lighted (like today but a little different.) In 2008 I was in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and was surprised to learn there was a KK there! I thought to my self, "There is no way they taste the same..." Over time I dubbed the regular glazed doughnut "The Classic." I thought that would be the best comparison for consistency purposes so I ordered one. Sure enough - NO DIFFERENT, the Emirates have the real thing! It was a hometown original a hemisphere away.
